Sunflower Hostel Berlin

The mellow flower amongst Berlin’s Hostels

We are located in Berlin Friedrichshain, one of Berlin’s central districts, neighboured by Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Kreuzberg. Friedrichshain itself is known for its young and creative vibe, due to its enormous amount of bars, cafés, galleries, theatres, cultural institutions, restaurants, cheap eats... and then there are those great clubs, such as the Berghain, entitled as the “best club worldwide” by the New York Times and other newspapers and magazines that followed the echo. What other clubs in the neighbourhood? Here we go: Cassiopeia, Astra, Rosi’s, Lovelite, Supamolly, Stereo 33, RAW, Matrix, Watergate, Magnet, Comet-Club, KATO, L.U.X., Lido, Arena, Privatclub.

A fair 5-minute walk away direction North you will come across the Karl-Marx-Allee - an architectural homage to the Soviet Union’s Socialist Classicism, the so-called "cedding-cake style". Furtherdown South awaits you another tourist sight: the Oberbaum Bridge, that nowadays connects the underground lines from West to East, but was cut and abandoned in the era of the Cold War, except for several spy-exchanges. Just around the corner you'll find the East Side Gallery, which is the longest remaining strip of the Wall, painted by artists from all over the world. So these are all tourist attractions within walking distance from Sunflower Hostel. The historical centre of the city, Mitte, with the majority of Berlin’s tourist sights can be reached within 5 minutes by the means of public transportation.

Sunflower Hostel Berlin awaits you w/ a selection of different room types, including everything from big dorms w/ a maximum of 8 beds, over smaller dorms, double rooms and single rooms up to apartments w/ private bathroom and kitchen. Our reception operates 24/7 and our own bar is open 23 hours a day. In addition to your room we offer a nice breakfast for !3 Euro only! until noon, internet access, laundry, bike rental, table-fussball plus more and hopefully a great stay in Berlin… Come along and figure it out yourself!

Really good hostel and reasonable prices. Visited a while ago now but the stay was fine. Helpful staff and a nice location for exploring Berlin.

Pros: Clean and large room (double privet) Location convenient to transportation and many stores/restaurants. Staff I interacted with was friendly. Kitchen area with large table, pots/pans and clean. Security for the hostel was good, to get to the rooms you have to show a card and be buzzed in. After this there are doors with a code you need to enter to get to the correct area of your room. Neutral: Some bathrooms/showers are larger than others so check out a few to find your favorite.Cons: Very loud at night, not sure if it was from the kitchen right next to my room or the court yard where people from the bar go out to smoke, makes it very hard and frustrating to sleep. Cleaning comes into the room daily (I did not know this) and never re-locks the door! I stayed 2 nights and found this happened each time, was not happy they went in the room in the first place without my knowledge. Construction was going on outside and started daily about 6-7 am making it really hard to sleep.Over all the place served its purpose for my few days stay after another place canceled my reservation. However, I would not stay here again due to the noise and cleaning coming in /not locking doors.

The definition of cheap and cheerful! Stayed in a 4 bed room with 2 bunk beds and an en suite, nothing special but the beds were comfy and sheets clean. The bar is cheap, the staff are friendly and the common area is always sociable and a great place to meet people to explore the city/nightlife with or just chill out and play some cards

The Sunflower hostel is in a great location close to a whole bunch of great bars & clubs. The staff are lovely except for one guy (blonde tall) which I can tell is well fed up, doesn’t mean to be horrible but definitely shouldn’t be working there anymore for his own well being and for the reputation of the hostel. I booked the cheapest room I could get because I was travelling with very little money and was very happy with the large spacious rooms with very comfortable mattresses but unfortunately found out that the communal kitchen was not available to anyone on my floor because we hadn’t paid extra for one of the nicer rooms. I feel it’s not necessary to separate the rich from the poor in this sense and would have been a lot happier with being able to save my money and cook my own meals. All in all I enjoyed my stay! Thankyou Sunflower Hostel x

I absolutely loved staying in this hostel! There is a cafe and bar making it easy to meet other travelers. I arrived as a solo traveler and have made friends with many other people staying in this hostel. The workers were helpful and the place was clean. The location is close to cool places and a subway stop.
