Great location and very clean small hostel. :) Room: Comfy bed! Lockers is not numbered. I have just found out that one of the other locker keys can open the locker that I used in the room before I checked out. I stored my valuables in the locker for two nights! :( luckily i didn't lose anything. Kitchen:Nice and clean, lack of an microoven. Toilet/shower: only one. Expect to wait if someone is inside longer. Might be a good idea to have place to hang cloth/towel.

Kiel didn't have much of budget accommodation listed online, so my girlfriend and I decided to give this hostel a shot. We were a bit weirded out at first about the fact that hostels.com didn't list any available rooms two months in advance and their their site was a bit... dated. Either way, I decided to shoot them an email asking if rooms were available. Alex promptly replied and just asked for my address/phone number to confirm the reservation.

When we arrived in Kiel, we had to wait an hour because check-in only takes place 5-7pm. However, it was absolutely worth it. We had a large double room in an old pre-1900 building in Kiel, is what looked like a huge apartment turned into a hostel. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking, and of course, free teas, coffee and peanuts!

Once checked in, we basically had keys and went in and out of the place like it was our own apartment. There is a common room where we hung out and looked at all the helpful travel books, maps, Peanuts comic books, etc. It was truly like staying at a home away from home. There were only two other people staying in the hostel, and they were extremely friendly.

The owner, Silke, stopped by one afternoon and we spoke about her travels, which inspired her to open the hostel, and her plans to open another hostel on the beach. She made us feel very welcomed! We stayed at a lot of hostels in the past, but this is by far the coziest, most welcoming place we encountered. We almost didn't want to write this review in order to keep this place a secret, but that wouldn't be fair. We look forward to staying at the beach hostel next time!

Zimmertipp: I'm pretty sure there's only two double rooms and one four-bed dorm. We stayed in a double a ...
