Amstel House Berlin

Your best value for money in Berlin

Centrally located, a reception and bar open around the clock, every amenity a guest could hope for, and the best prices in town! The Amstel House Hostel has everything needed for a great stay in Berlin. The hostel is just a short bus or metro ride away from the train central station, historical center, Brandenburg Gate, the zoo and the famous Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s biggest and best-known shopping street.

Our amazing building was officially opened back in 1914 in the presence of no less than the last Emperor of Germany, William II, and first used as a house for young single men. Its impressive façade in the Art Nouveau style remains exactly the same as it was back then, and it’s now a landmark of historical importance. The interior of our building, however, has been completely renovated and modernized in order to fulfill all our guests’ needs. Our great infrastructure includes a 24/7 reception and bar, games room, free internet, bike rental, laundry and ticket services.

We provide a broad range of clean and comfortable accommodation including dorms, rooms sleeping four persons, family rooms and twin rooms – en suite or with shared facilities – and single rooms. Our team is at your service 24/7, whether at the reception to check you in and help you plan your tourist itinerary, or at the bar serving you up one of the many styles of beers featured on our menu. We offer a reasonably priced breakfast buffet, an all-you-can-eat burger BBQ, free computers and Wi-Fi in the lobby, laundry and ticket booking services, bike rental, games room, free maps, karaoke and DJ nights, safes, a luggage room and much more to ensure your comfort and our ability to meet your every last need.

Staff seemed money hungry, the first thing he mentioned when I arrived was the amount of money I owed

Kinda Far from most things. Staff was nice. Toilets and showers were not. Not bad overall but I just wouldn’t recommend it to a friend

Pros: only a 5-10 min bus ride to the train station. About 20 mins by bus to city center. Staff was very helpful with finding bus stations, pharmacy, post office, and places to eat. Swipe card security worked well. Cons: WiFi was horrible. VERY loud. Would recommend wearing ear plugs so you can't hear people walking/running in hallway or people from out the window. They don't wash the blankets after people checkout out, only shake them out and re-fold them. Bring your own lock to store luggage!
