From the beginning as the ropemakers worked by the river and gave famous Reeperbahn its name over the 60ies where the Beatles made their first steps on stage to the middle of the 80ies as Hafenstraße was squatted and now. The staff are fine if you greet them. Don't wait for them to greet you. It's the same through St Pauli, the district. The bar is an excellent place to chill and meet people. Just step up.

I'd say the hostel is in a great location and very cheap. I kind of got the feeling guests are a burden, or its acceptable for some of the staff to make fun of guests which I didn't appreciate. There are also lots of long term residents who are not very friendly and use the facilities more often than other guests. Overall it was an average stay.

I would NOT recommend it if you travel with friends, I would if you look for a quiet ambiance. It is clean and the location is good (near the bars area and 20mins walk to the city centre). BUT the ambiance is not the best (not many young people, some hosts live there...), and the common area (kitchen) is not the best place to spend time at.

Eigentlich ganz cool und nette Leute. Aber wir hatten bereits bei der Anreise Probleme mit der Chefin. Sie war leider sehr unfreundlich. Dafür waren ihre Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter mega.
