Hostel Details

Instant Sleep Backpackerhostel Hamburg

Enjoy our relaxed atmosphere: about 50 persons can stay in the beds of our eleven differently designed rooms. So we are a good address especially for people travelling on their own or in small groups and looking for room to sleep.

We are a classic backpacker hostel: with colourful, but simple rooms, a well equipped kitchen and communal bathrooms on the corridor. The hostel's heart is our lounge: here you can relax and meet other guests.

If you would like to have breakfast in a café or go to eat somewhere, maybe you will discover what you are looking for already in the same building: downstairs there is a café serving American breakfast and a snack bar. Just round the corner on 'Schulterblatt', you will find many more options: cafés, snack bars and restaurants with food from almost the whole world (e.g. from Japan, Pakistan, Greece, Italy or Germany), or on 'Juliusstraße', where you can find a café called 'Unter den Linden' (Under the lime trees) that serves croissants and cafe au lait.
Big parts of Hamburg's night life with many clubs and bars are in a walking distance, too, but you can also get there using public transports. The hostel is located at the north-western end of 'Schulterblatt' at the crossin with 'Max-Brauer-Allee'. Here you are near enough to the centre to reach many places comfortable and in a short time, and still in a very lively living quarter of Hamburg. So there is an interesting neighbourhood around the hostel, but you will not find yourself next to monotonous shopping precincts, grey industrial or office districts or the permanent hurly-burly of train stations or Hamburg's 'Reeperbahn'.

Starting from the hostel, you can easily discover quarters like 'Sternschanze', the so called 'Karolinenviertel' or 'St. Pauli'. By public transports you can get fast to 'Altona', the city centre, the 'Alster' lake or to many other places in Hamburg. You will find a bus stop just across the street, the next station for S-Bahn and U-Bahn (tube system) can be reached with a short walk of under ten minutes.

Hostel Ratings

Great location for what I required.. Great on price. Only thing I would say is that the pillows need looked at - rather limp or barely there. You can hear the antics outside due to the windows being open so those that are light sleepers may not like it but it's not something that bothers me. Unfortunately the windows do need to remain open as I like fresh air.For someone who has stayed in many hostels while traveling round the world I must say this is one of the best hostels!!

Some staff were extremely rude and coarse mannered when dealing with guest concerns regarding simple hostel responsibilities, only go if you like your food stolen or room left dirty!

I wouldn't stay here again. Staff wasn't as friendly as I like and there are a bunch of seemingly homeless older people who do work exchange here. It's decent and has a good kitchen but I prefer a different atmosphere. Also didn't sleep well due to the Olympic snorer in my room.

The place was super expensive for where it was. Not in the city but near every bar possible. It was in a bar area so if you don't like to party I would not recommend it. It is LOUD all night because the hostel upstairs has parties going on. Great kitchen, the staff was amazing I got there at 22:30 and they were waiting for me. The wifi was HORRIBLE it cut out every 10 minutes and wouldn't work for 3 minutes until it was back up. The place next door has great breakfast!

Strongest point is location, it's not in the city centre but rather in the bar/cafe area of Hamburg. You won't struggle to find somewhere to eat or drink, plus the station is only a 5 minute walk away.Kitchen and bathrooms were outdated, and didn't enjoy that you couldn't lock the shower or toilet cubicle.Staff charged us a late arrival fee of €10 per person per hour after 11pm, which is over the top in our opinion. Be warned. There was no atmosphere, not a great place to meet new people
